The district of Patiala is situated on the south eastern part of Punjab. The district encompasses a total area of 3627 sq. km and is the fifth largest district of the state. Patiala has a total population of 18,44,934 and is the 6th largest district in terms of population in Punjab.

The main occupation of the people of this district is agriculture with 81% cultivable land. However the district of Patiala can boast of many industries and has carved out a place for itself in the industrial map of our country.
